about

A few of my favorite tracks/jazz artists, where I combined my love of Jazz, House Music (two of my favorite genres) and remixing. Growing up in Chicago as a teenager in the early 80's, it was almost mandatory to be a lover of House Music on the southside. My room did not allow for two turntables and a mixer let alone crates and crates of records, so I settled for going to the high school dances (later Fraternity parties and clubs) to have fun.

I was also a huge fan of Duke Ellington and I would listen to "Take the A Train" and "Sophisticated Lady" over and over on my single Pioneer turntable. After college, my close friend from high school and God Brother, Chris, enlighten me to what was to become my all-time favorite era of jazz (the 50's and 60's Be Bop era) where John Coltrane and Mile Davis became my solace and refuge many nights when living downtown Chicago in the mid 90's.

Ironically, while I kicked around doing a remix album for fun, this project started out with a simple suggestion, "Hey you should remix a Nina Simone track" (not an easy task). One thing led to another and here we are
